A huge verse which has been twisted for a very long time is looked at in verse 2. Grace is not a license to continue sinning and living an immoral life. Have we not read the idea that some think it is good to keep on sinning that grace may abound? We also have read, may it never be! Or in simpler terms, the more we sin, the more awesome grace is and therefore we should keep sinning. The answer to such a thought is loud and clear - NO No No.
It might seem so hard to watch while so many live a reckless life enjoying all that life has to offer while we live with self control and a desire to live honorably. It might seem unfair if we place our values on worldly things. We are encouraged to remember that God has a handle on it all and that we should not judge but be merciful. Understand that God will do the judging as He did with Sodom and Gomorrah and other situations.
We are reminded that our battles are not flesh and blood battles. We are to recognize and not underestimate the spiritual realm and how powerful it is. (Also see Ephesians 6:10-12).
Understand that we all deal with such things and we should lift each other up, encourage one another, hold on to our faith and pray always. Remember we are investing in eternity and everlasting life. Judge not those whose faith is shaky but show mercy as we receive mercy. In all of this let our life glorify God and give Him all the Glory.
To continue our study, please be reminded that we pray for you all daily that you grow in your faith, encouragement and love towards others. I suggest we continue our study with James. I have looked over what we have done so far and have not seen that we have studied James. If we have, someone let me know. James is another one of my favorite books. This book is written by James and it is addressed to the 12 tribes of Jewish believers that are scattered about. There is much to learn and it is a powerhouse of growth for us all. Let's study James for the month of May. Any thoughts or comments on James or the last study we have done? I would love to hear from you.
God bless you all.
