There are over 3,000 promised in the Bible> God has given us many things to help us overcome the wways of the world. He has told us if we do or are this or that, then He will provide.do this or that. For example look at Psalm 91:4b NLT "His faithful promises are your armor and protection". So if we are to wear His armor, would you agree we need to know what those promises are? That is one of the great benefits of studying the scriptures. You can never know His promises if you are not in the word looking for htem and for the truth it offers.
Let's stay in Psalm 91 but start with verse 9 NLT " IF you make the Lord your refuge, IF you make the Most High your shelter (then HE promises you)no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. (Why?)For He will order His angels to protect you wherever you go. It continues on from verse 12 + 13. If you then stay there and go down to verses 14-16 The Lord says, "I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When (the ones who love me and the ones who trust in my name) they call on me, I will answer. I will be with them in trouble (How about Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the fore furnace) I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.
You see, the Bible is filled with instruction and promises that God has given. For us to be the recipient of those promises don't we need to know what they are and how we have to be aligned with the Word to receive them.
We are told to make every effort to respond to those promises and also live with moral excellence, with knowledge, self control, patient endurance, godliness, brotherly affection and (back to our main theme on this site) love for everyone!
Chapter 1:19 second half of the verse. "You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place-until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts.
How cool it is to have promises and direction right from the Lord our God. The even better thing is that all we have to do is ready, study and learn to reap such blessings.
HAVE A BLESSED EASTER!
